Initial ELPAC Scale Score Ranges
The Initial ELPAC provides a consistent, standardized measurement of English language proficiency across the state to all eligible students,
whose primary language is other than English, in four domains: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing.
The Overall score consists of the student’s Oral Language and Written Language performance levels.
The weighting of the Oral Language and Written Language performance levels is based on the student’s grade level.
Students will receive an Overall score that falls into one of three levels.
As the Initial ELPAC is only administered once to eligible students, the same score ranges are used for all grade levels.
